/// Mika Kenyah

Mika Kenyah has studied at Fordham University and CUNY where she won two awards from the NAACP for her original writing and poetry. She moved on to work in the entertainment/media industry for 10 years now, both behind and in front of the camera. On the corporate end, Mika has worked for ABC Daytime, Clear Channel, Nike & ESPN’s content development group. On the performance side, she has used her acting/writing skills in theatre, film & commercials.
Being an alternative talent herself; ethnically ambiguous with tattoos and a mohawk, she found that casting directors would often tell her she did not fit a specific category. She decided to take a break from acting and work in casting for ABC daytime. Her decision proved valuable when she learned that casting directors would often have a difficult time finding unique talent with out of the box looks for specific roles/characters. She began to think of a way to connect the alternative talent to the right gigs and that’s when she decided to create Sugar & Spikes Casting.
Currently, Mika is the CEO and Founder of Sugar & Spikes Casting, an alternative casting agency.
Mika organizes and hosts alternative fashion/art/music events as a way to give unique models, actors, performers an opportunity to not only build their portfolio but also give them a platform to showcase their diverse talents to potential clients. Mika also freelance directing and writing treatments for music videos. She blogs for Afropunk.com, Sugar Gamers and has contributed articles to Urban Ink Magazine, Gorgeous Freaks Magazine & Cats Meow Magazine.
