Mika Kenyah
Hello! I'm Mika, born of Peruvian and African American heritage, I grew up in Yonkers NY where my diverse culture contributed to me seeking an outlet to explore who I was through my creativity, art and music. I was raised in a very musical family, where motown, jazz, gospel and classic rock was always playing and dancing highly encouraged. Yet, it wasn't until I was first exposed to MTV at age 9, that artists like Nirvana, Tool and Nine Inch Nails really cultivated my love for rock and roll and would serve as a catalyst for a very unique mission that would make itself more present later in my career. I started an acting career at the age of 16, performing on off broadway, in television, film and commercials. When I began modeling at the beginning of my freshman year at Fordham University, I had the amazing opportunity to walk the runway in some of the hottest venues in NYC during fashion week, including the world reknown Hammerstein Ballroom. It became clear to me, while working as a marketing consultant at ABC Studios, that not only did I enjoy performing I also possesed a passion for the business side of the entertainment industry. Currently, I work in advertising for Clear Channel but my love of rock music and modeling led me to a very different calling. Having the past experience of hosting SONY record release parties and working with a NYC based rock and roll promotions company, I began to think of a way to showcase alternative models and alternative music. I started Sugar & Spikes, as a way to remedy the problem I was starting to see at NYC rock shows. I felt the excitement and scene that once made rock and roll in NYC so legendary was starting to fade and segregate. What better way to revitalize that spirit by creating a team of women in rock; the tattooed, the pierced and wonderfully unique, to be the leaders in bringing back the revolutionary experience of rock to the masses. And making events for all walks of life to enjoy good music and great people in a thrilling scene. In my spare time I love watching horror movies, singing, dancing, writing and going ghost hunting around the world...as long as I got a killer soundtrack to whatever I am doing, I am more than happy! new TWTR.Widget({ version: 2, type: 'profile', rpp: 4, interval: 30000, width: 250, height: 300, theme: { shell: { background: '#333333', color: '#ffffff' }, tweets: { background: '#000000', color: '#ffffff', links: '#4aed05' } }, features: { scrollbar: false, loop: false, live: false, hashtags: true, timestamp: true, avatars: false, behavior: 'all' } }).render().setUser('MikaSugarSpikes').start();
